Hi there, it's the first post of the month and what better way to start the month than with a very lovely topic, LOVE?
My first love (or so I thought) was my primary four classmate. He sat directly behind me for a few weeks before his seat was later changed because he was shorter than I was and was also sitting on the last seat on that column. For the few weeks we sat close to each other we played like children after all, we were actually children.
When I resumed for the next session, I anticipated when he would resume. I thought maybe something had come up that prevented him from resuming early. But later, I learned that he had gone to Secondary School and was never coming back. Back then, was it love? I don't know. I don't think so. But what I know is that every time I thought about him then, I always got butterflies in my stomach. After I got to know that he had left and was not coming back, I decided to move on.
A few years later, we met again, online, and this time, he did not remember who I was talkless of feeling the same way I felt years ago.
The next time I felt this way was in my junior secondary school. Anytime I thought about this new person, I also got butterflies in my stomach. Was this also love? I don't know either. But the good part about this particular one was that whatever I felt was reciprocal. This time, I wasn't a fool in love.
Whenever we had a fight or something, we had a way of resolving it by writing letters to each other, telling each other sorry and all that. We also celebrated each other birthdays by writing cute letters that had drawings of love on it complementing the letters with five naira biscuits.
And whatever was going on then, we called it LOVE. Young love or just two kids having a little fun.
Love is blind, but I can still see you. True love lasts forever.
This was in one of the letters we. Now that I think about it, I am cringing so hard😭. I can't remember which of us wrote it, but even now, I don't see any meaning in this statement. I don't understand if it was supposed to be poetic.
Whether it was love or not, I've come to know that love is more than just having butterflies. Love is more than two teenagers writing love letters to each other as a form of communication because one was shy of the other. Love is more than giving one another biscuits as gifts. Love is more than just holding hands.
As an adult, I don't have full knowledge of what this thing called love is, as it feels so mucb like a mystery but I do know that love was the medicine that beauty used to turn the beast back to normal.
The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds.- Nicholas Sparks.
Love is a feeling, a commitment, an emotion all at once. Love is even more than these 3 terms used to define it.
Love is what keeps relationships. It is what makes relationships stronger and stronger. It makes people stay even when there is every reason to go.
Love is understanding, but it is not being a mumu. If your partner already turned you into a punching bag but gives you gifts to make up for itevery time that happens, run oh! That's not love. It's the opposite.
There would always be conflict among humans, but love would always conquer. Love brings peace and calmness to the soul. Love makes people do extraordinary things. It is what makes people go out of their way to help others, even when it's the least convenient.
It is powerful enough to bring two people with opposite views, personalities, and backgrounds together.
Love is patience. It is kind. It is forgiving even when you don't see any reason to. It is letting go of grudges and resentment. It is what made Ara go back to Cj after months of him disappearing on her. (Source: Ginika's bridesmaid, Book 1- Ara. Author: Adesuwa Oman Nwokedi)
When we love someone, we are willing to make sacrifices and compromise our standards to ensure their happiness and comfort.
It is not exclusive to the relationship between romantic partners, siblings, family members, or friends, but can also exist between colleagues, neighbours, community members, and EVEN STRANGERS.
It is not limited to what we feel in our hearts, or what we see in movies or even what we read in books. It can surprise us, challenge us, and transform us in very unexpected ways.
LOVE
It's just a four-letter word but a very powerful feeling that can't be ignored. From hugs to gifts, from encouraging words to comforting silence, from being a warmth in the cold to being a cool treat on a sunny day. Love is a lot of things, but it can still be expressed by these small acts.
Love is the greatest.
Be the love someone needs today.
This is good👏👏
Your love stories are hilarious 😂
